The Challenge Coin has a long history both as a symbol of dedication and valor in the military, but also as a symbol in organizations, acknowledging membership and achievement. At Valley Wide the purpose of the challenge coin is to recognize employees that go above and beyond in their duties to serve our each other, our membership, and the community.
Each quarter, CEO Dave Holtom selected two individuals in the company to be recognized as Challenge Coin recipients. This quarter the challenge coins were awarded to the following individuals:
Luis Acevedo
Ace was promoted early in 2021 into one of the busiest stores in the company, Bellevue. The store had traditionally been challenged with staffing and operational issues. Ace put his leadership and knowledge of the company to work immediately. Improving morale, customer service and execution consistency. The store continued to build on the momentum from 2021 into 2022. They are now one of the top 5 stores in the company and are having a record sales year.
Darlene Phillips
Darlene was recently promoted to managing three stores on the I-93 corridor, including Crossroads and both c-store locations in Shoshone. As one of the top leaders in the company, Darlene has done a great job leading our Crossroads store to record sales number two years running. In addition, Darlene has developed and improved training for all the stores, and managed several projects at her locations, including the pump update at North Shoshone, and the successful opening of Jersey Mike’s at Crossroads
