    Giving Back

Since 1920 Valley Wide Cooperative has been helping farmers and ranchers build their homes and businesses through dedication and partnerships. Valley Wide Cooperative is involved in every community we are a part of, and we are helping to cultivate and strengthen the current and next generation of farmers.

Valley Wide Cooperative offers special programs that helps build the communities that we are involved in. Our donations focus on, but are not limited to, organizations relating to agriculture and hunger.

Valley Wide Cooperative is passionate about the success of the communities we are in.  Several ways through which we do so are in are sponsorships, grants, and donations. Please select the option you are looking for below.

    Eric Beck Memorial Scholarship

An investment in the cooperative’s future

In 2018 our annual scholarship giving was renamed the Eric Beck Memorial Scholarship in honor of Eric Beck (1955-2017). Eric was a board member of one of Valley Wide’s predecessors, Menan Cooperative and later was instrumental in the formation of Valley Wide Cooperative. As a farmer and rancher in Menan, Idaho, he was a life-long advocate of the cooperative system. He put a high value on learning and teaching others the skills he excelled in during his life. We are proud to award scholarships in his name.

The Valley Wide Cooperative Sponsorship program is designed to support community events of local organizations. Generally, we sponsor events such as fairs, rodeos, and FFA & 4-H events with a monetary amount. As a farmer’s cooperative, we are passionate about agriculture and supporting the communities in which we serve. We receive many applications for sponsorship, and as a dedicated, community-driven organization, we take the time to process each and every sponsorship request received.

          Grants

A financial contribution over $1000 and provided to a 501(c)(3) organization. Grants are for organizations that need larger funding for projects that are community based like schools or other educational entities, food pantries and shelters, fairgrounds, etc.  These are submitted to Land O’Lakes for grant funding to match our donation dollar-for-dollar.  There are very specific guidelines for grant funding, and our CEO determines which projects will be submitted for funding.

Our grant program is designed for any organization or group looking for a monetary or non-monetary donation from Valley Wide Cooperative. Over the last 3 years Valley Wide Coop along with matching funds from Land O’Lakes has donated nearly $200,000 through our benevolence fund.

          A Partner with our Community

We enjoy being of service to our community and making time to give back to the those that help to support us. Our objective is to be the dependable next door neighbor in every location that we are a part of, whether it is through benevolence, service or business.

This year Valley Wide Coop will be contributing up to 20 separate grants to local (non-profit) civic, cultural, arts, youth, educational, and community groups in our areas of impact. These funds will be issued to all groups chosen by our benevolence committee. We will offer preference to groups who can use the extra help as they may not have access to government grants, or other traditional revenue sources. If you can think of any groups who could use some assistance, we encourage you to have them contact us directly with their inquiries or complete the below application.

Although not exclusively limited to agriculture, donations are typically given to organizations that are affiliated or involved with agriculture. Valley Wide Cooperative also contributes to local organizations, educational groups, and youth groups that take place in the areas that we serve. Unfortunately, Valley Wide Cooperative is not able to donate to all organizations. Please be aware that we do not donate to individual foundations or sponsor individual participation.

Due to our size and being involved in so many different communities, Valley Wide Cooperative does not donate or sponsor individual school sports, club or team sports. Due to the amount of requests we receive, Valley Wide Cooperative makes one donation per group per calendar year. If you are part of a larger organization, please coordinate your requests accordingly.
