The position of the Office Assistant is of great significance to Valley Agronomics and Valley Wide Cooperative.  The Office Assistant is responsible for acting as the primary contact for all incoming phone calls and assisting with administrative and accounting tasks as needed as well as some maintenance needs.  Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Answer multi-line telephone and direct or transfer calls to the appropriate associate or voice mailbox.
  • Greet and direct vendors and visitors to the company.
  • Take and retrieve messages for various personnel.
  • Provide callers with information such as company address, directions to the company locations, company fax numbers, company website and other related information.
  • Receive, sort and forward incoming mail. Maintain and route publications.
  • Coordinate the pick-up and delivery of express mail services (FedEx, UPS, etc.)
  • Assist in the ordering, receiving, stocking and distribution of office supplies.
  • Perform general building clean-up.
  • Maintain exterior areas, green space and parking lot.
  • Perform non-routine cleaning according to job orders.
  • Assist with other related clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, filing and collating.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
  • Must have strong communication skills; ability to communicate in appropriate, professional manner with managers, supervisors, employees, customers, vendors and general public.
  • Must be able to maintain accurate data, make appropriate decisions.
  • Must maintain appropriate and expected levels of customer service.
  • Must have ability to determine order of need and task priority based on level of importance.
  • Must exhibit a professional and positive image
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • One year’s administrative experience preferred.
This is a part time, 20+ hours per week position, typically Monday - Friday. Qualified applicants must be available to work evenings and/or weekends and full days as needed, especially during times of high seasonal demand.
