Valley Wide Cooperative Gives Northeast Oregon Regional SWAT Generous Donation

La Grande, OR – Valley Wide Cooperative donated $1000 to the Northeast Oregon Regional SWAT Team (NEO Regional SWAT). The donation will be used toward a purchase of a robot to be used in hostage situations, along with bomb threats and other special operations. The fully armored truck in the picture was a money transfer truck that was fabricated by a local welding company, which has bullet proof glass and 3/8” steel plate surrounding the unit.

The NEO Regional SWAT Team has been serving the region since May of 2012. The unit is a combined effort of 34 individuals from 7 different agencies and has three elements it is made up of: Tactical, Tactical EMS (medics), and Crisis Negotiation. SWAT deals with life and death crises which would include situations such as hostage situations, barricaded subjects, high risk search arrest and search warrant execution, and more. While talking about SWAT, Commander Gary Bell said “the primary mission of the NEO Regional SWAT Team is to save lives. SWAT does so by bringing additional training, equipment and personnel to support the extraordinary needs of the participating police departments.” Valley Wide Cooperative division serves the La Grande community and continues to find ways to give back. “We are excited to be in La Grande serving the community. We understand the importance of giving back to our customers and patrons, and being able to provide a propane service in the area that you can trust as part of the cooperative system” stated Director of Marketing Jason Pollard.
